【Introduction】
Tin (II) fluoroborate, also known as tetrafluoroborate tin, is a colorless and transparent liquid with a white solid form and a slightly alkaline pure product. Its application in the electroplating industry mainly includes high-speed tin plating of copper wires and the preparation of tin or tin alloy electroplating solutions. In addition, stannous fluoroborate is also used as a component of tin and alloy electroplating baths, and as a catalyst in various organic reactions.
In terms of chemical properties, the relative density of stannous fluoroborate (20 ℃) is 1.65. When there is a certain amount of free acid in the aqueous solution, it is acidic, while the pure product is slightly alkaline. It is prone to decomposition or hydrolysis when heated or in contact with water, and is prone to oxidation when exposed to air for a long time.
One of the methods for producing stannous fluoroborate is the metal tin fluoroborate method. This method first cuts the tin ingot into small pieces, heats them on an electric furnace to melt them, and then pours them into cold water to form tin flowers. They are then removed and poured into a reactor, followed by the addition of fluoroboric acid. Compressed air is then introduced for bubbling to allow for sufficient reaction. After filtering the reaction solution to remove impurities, the finished product of stannous fluoroborate is obtained.
The packaging of stannous fluoroborate usually uses polyethylene drums or chemical packaging drums, with a net weight of 25kg or 250kg per drum. It should be stored in a cool and ventilated warehouse, and packaged and sealed for storage. It should not be stored in a hot room or exposed to sunlight.
In terms of safety, stannous fluoroborate is corrosive, so appropriate protective clothing, gloves, and goggles or masks should be worn during operation. The dangerous goods symbol is C, indicating that it is a corrosive substance. Risk terms include R31 (release of toxic gases upon contact with acid) and R34 (cause burns), while safety terms include S26 (rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice in case of accidental eye contact), S27 (remove immediately if clothing is contaminated), S36/37/39 (wear appropriate protective clothing, gloves, goggles, or masks), and S45 (seek medical attention immediately in case of accidents or discomfort (show label if possible)).
