【Introduction】

Tromethamine, also known as Tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane or simply Tris, is an organic compound with the following properties:

Solubility: Soluble in water and ethanol, slightly soluble in ethyl acetate and benzene, insoluble in ether and carbon tetrachloride.

Uses:

Tris is a sodium-free amino buffer base used to correct acidosis and can penetrate cell membranes. It is commonly used in acute metabolic and respiratory acidosis.

As a buffer solution, it is widely used in solvents for nucleic acids and proteins, especially in the effective buffer range between pH 7.0 and 9.2.

It is used as one of the main components of protein crystal growth and electrophoresis buffer, as well as an intermediate for the preparation of surfactants, vulcanizing accelerators, and some drugs.

Preparation Method:

It can be prepared by the condensation reaction of nitromethane and paraformaldehyde, adding methanol solvent and KOH catalyst, and controlling the reaction temperature and time.protection measures should be taken during operation, such as wearing protective gloves, gas masks, and goggles.
